Everything You Need to Know: Summer Showdown at Evergreen – FloRacing | Hot Mobile Press

Monroe, Wash. will buzz with the sound of pro and super late models this weekend when Evergreen Speedway hosts the biggest event of the year at the track: the 10th Annual Summer Showdown. In this edition of Everything You Need to Know on FloRacing, we prepare you for the big race.

NASCAR Summer Showdown 2022 at Evergreen Speedway

The race

The Summer Showdown is a 200-lap super late street model race held under the sanction of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. With hefty prize money that includes a $25,000 check for the winner, the race has become the largest sidewalk race in the Northwest and one of the richest races in the country.

In addition to the guaranteed purse, there will be an opportunity for a driver to walk away with $70,000 this weekend. To do so, a driver must win Friday’s $10,000-to-win Pro Late Model race, finish at the bottom of Saturday’s 200-lap race, and win the Summer Showdown.

The distance

Evergreen Speedway features a variety of layouts, but this weekend’s race will be held on the fast 5/8 mile oval. Located just over 30 miles northwest of Seattle in Monroe, Washington, the speedway has established itself as one of the premier motorsport facilities in the Northwest.

The format

The starting grid for Saturday’s Summer Showdown Main Event will be determined by qualifying and heat races.

Results from Friday’s qualifying will be used to set starting positions for the 20-lap running races later in the evening. The first 32 positions for Saturday’s race will be determined based on the results of the heat races.

A last-chance qualifying race will determine positions 33-36, while two provisional drivers are available for Evergreen Speedway week who do not qualify through the LCQ.

Halfway through the 200 lap race there will be a scheduled rest at or near lap 100.
