How to Boost ASUS ROG Phone 6 Performance – Android Headlines | Hot Mobile Press

The ASUS ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro already offer pretty outstanding performance for a gaming phone. But it is actually possible to increase this performance a little bit. Also, adjust the device’s performance during gaming sessions to suit your personal preferences.

All it takes is a little poking around in the right menus and tweaking things the way you see fit. That being said, ASUS makes it pretty easy to put things on autopilot and let the phone’s software handle that performance boost for you on the ROG Phone 6.

If you’re a brand new ROG Phone 6 or ROG Phone 6 Pro owner or planning to get one, this guide is for you. We’re going to break down the simple step-by-step process to make your device the best it can be for gaming. And best of all, everything you need is built right into the phone’s software. No additional apps need to be downloaded.

However, you will want to use some hardware. Fortunately, ASUS offers this for you too.

How to increase the performance of ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro

Increasing the performance of this device is easy and relatively quick. There might be a few things to do, but it doesn’t take more than a minute or so to tick off the list.

With that in mind, let’s explore how to up the game this phone for gaming.

Launch the Armory Crate app

This is your central hub for basically everything you need to do. So let’s start by pointing you in that direction. Launch the Armory Crate app to configure whatever you want before you start playing.

Navigate to the Console tab

After opening the app, tap the second button from the left in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the Console tab.

Tap the X mode button and click Edit/Apply

Once you’re on the console page, the different modes will be the first thing you see. Tap the X Mode button and click Edit to customize the performance of X Mode to your needs or desires. In the edit menu you can change all sorts of things by setting the refresh rate to 144Hz. If you have this enabled, your screen will always stay at 144Hz while gaming.

Note, however, that many games do not support this refresh rate. So you don’t really get the benefits for every game. Disabling this will keep the screen refresh rate at what you set before starting a game. So if that’s 60 Hz, then it stays at 60 Hz.

Or if you’re like me, keep it at 165Hz all the time. In that case, leave it disabled and don’t worry about having to change it. However, this will drain your battery more.

Turn off your ROG Vision display and system lights

While these are cool effects, activating your ROG Vision display (which is on the back) and system lighting means the phone’s CPU is redirecting at least some of its power to keep it running. While the difference in performance can be minimal when these are off, minimal is better than no boost at all.

That being said, it’s worth trying out your games with those two things as well to see if you personally actually notice a difference. If you don’t leave them on.

Dim your display

We don’t talk about much here. But any amount you find acceptable, or the least bright you’re willing to go. Increasing the brightness of your display will help increase the internal temperature of your phone. And that leads to potentially worse performance as the phone’s internals get warmer. The ROG Phone 6 has a decent cooling system that has been significantly improved over the previous phone in the series.

However, if you don’t need your phone’s display brightness as high as possible, you can help the cooling system by lowering the brightness. Do less work for it.

Attach the AeroActive Cooler 6

It might seem weird at first, but the AeroActive Cooler 6 is a super cool accessory specially designed and built to keep your phone cool during extended gaming sessions. ASUS recommends it if you want to play for more than an hour. Although most of the time I just plug it in from the start anyway and if I’m not playing for more than 15 minutes I just unplug it.

These accessories directly affect performance because the cooler the inside of your phone, the better it can perform. In most cases, these are all the bigger things you can do to ensure better performance from your device while gaming. It’s also a good idea to make sure notifications are turned off while you’re playing so you’re not interrupted. If getting notifications in the middle of the game bothers you.
